Our family is your family.
It’s one thing to offer health programs to families and kids. It’s another thing entirely to go out and get personally involved to help improve people’s lives.
For instance, we don’t just wait for our members to ask for prenatal care; we seek them out. Amerigroup maintains member profiles that include about a dozen indicators that suggest someone might be pregnant. If any of these indicators show up – say the member gets a prescription for prenatal vitamins – we contact that member and ask if she is expecting so we can make sure she gets the appropriate care.
This type of outreach makes a difference. Premature deliveries among Amerigroup members have dropped to 9.3%, which is well below the national average of 12.7%.
This is just an example of how Amerigroup Caregivers go above and beyond to find real solutions for our members.
We reach out to families with personal guidance and educational programs like Taking Care of Baby and Me, a prenatal program for pregnant mothers. In several markets we provide enhanced services including vouchers for over-the-counter medications and free memberships to the local Boys and Girls Clubs.
We’re committed to helping children live healthy lives. Some of our initiatives and programs include:
PowerZone – a program that addresses childhood obesity
Value-added benefits such as Boys and Girls Club membership and school physicals
Our Bee Wise Immunize vaccine initiative (designated as a “Best Practice” by State of Florida Health Department).
Amerigroup currently serves about 260,000 CHIP members and about 1.2 million individuals enrolled in Medicaid programs designed to help families nationwide.
